Each Pintxo has a toothpick stuck in them with particular prices, which vary from €1-€2. You're given a little glass jar to collect the toothpicks from the Pintxos you've eaten. At the end of your stay you hand over the jar of toothpicks and get your bill.
The best way to experience it is to do a Pintxos pub crawl. Stop into each restaurant, have a Pintxo or two and a small glass of beer or cava. Then carry on to the next one and do the same thing.
Your bill will be no more than €6/7 for two people in each bar.
The selection is endless with something for everyone. Most of the Pintxos are on a piece of bread with toppings such as cheese, chorizo, prawn, beef, chicken, avocado, pork and if you're more adventurous, octopus or squid.
Sometimes they have three toppings just for good measure.
The even better news is that a glass of cava and beer are only €2 so you will definitely not break the bank on this outing.
It's not in your typical touristy area and is located about a 20 minutes walk from La Ramblas in the El Poble-Sec region of the city. The closest Metro stops are Poble-Sec or Paral-lel.
It's well worth the trip and I promise you, you won't regret it.
Enjoy!
