“Piracy be a crime”, and you may have to sail the seven seas of the internet in search of your next not-so-legal download, for soon The Pirate Bay shall be no more.
As of today, the final nail in the coffin of the controversial file-sharing website looks nigh, for Irish internet users at least, as six of the country’s major internet service providers been ordered by the High Court to block access to the site from their customers.
Vodafone, UPC, Imagine, Digiweb, Hutchison Whampoa (3 Ireland) and Telefónica (O2 Ireland) have been ordered to block the site from the customers, something Eircom has already been doing since 2009.

The ruling comes following a lengthy battle launched by EMI, Sony and Warner Music, who took a case to the Commercial Court claiming that The Pirate Bay was making them lose money and Irish ISPs were partially culpable.
The six have been given just 30 days to block The Pirate Bay.
