Met Éireann has issued two weather warnings which are in effect from 8.00am this morning (Tuesday) until 8.00am on Thursday morning. There is a status orange wind warning in place for Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo. Southerly winds will reach gale force in exposed areas with westerly winds strengthening this evening. Wintry showers are likely this evening with severe gales and stormy conditions expected overnight. This will continue into Wednesday with snow falling on high ground. There is also a status yellow wind warning for Cavan, Leinster, Monaghan, Munster and Roscommon. Again, strong winds are expected with gusts reaching 70 to 110 km/hr in some places. Highest temperatures for today will be around 10 to 12 degrees but it will become bitterly cold later tonight with lowest temperatures between 1 and 5 degrees. According to the forecaster, the rest of the week follows the same pattern. Tomorrow is expected to be stormy with strong winds, cold temperatures and wintry showers. On Thursday you can expect a mix of clear spells and wintry showers while Friday will be windy and very cold with temperatures around 3 to 7 degrees.
