Last year, this man melted hearts all over the country when his photo and story were posted to the Humans of Dublin page. The man was pictured sitting on a bench at Dun Laoghaire harbour and the photo was captioned with a touching and heartfelt snippet of what was going on in his life. His wife had recently passed away, and he had lost his zest for life. He was simply waiting for his turn to die. However, thanks to some helpful neighbours and the love of his son and his wife, he was warming to the world again, and said on this day that he was "happy" he had come to the harbour. Now, the man's son has taken to the Humans of Dublin page to share some bittersweet news. The man in the photo, Bill Doran, has sadly passed away. However, the joy that the Humans of Dublin photo brought him was "one of the highlights of his life". He went on to be on TV, radio and was well known in his home village of Rathmines. Our thoughts are with his family at this time.
