Embarrassing moments – we all have them and when we’re dehydrated we tend to have even more of them. This is because dehydration causes us to lose our mental focus and do silly things.
For the next six weeks we’re teaming up with Deep RiverRock to have a look at some of the most embarrassing things that can happen to us and, more importantly, how to recover from these awkward instances.
You can recover from any mortifying moment, but if you’d like to try and avoid them completely, it’s worth keeping yourself hydrated so your wits are always in tip-top condition.
Remember: the human body is made up of at least 60 per cent water. So stay hydrated and keep your cool no matter what happens!
____________
That awkward moment when... you have a super-embarrassing mishap at the gym

It's important to keep your wits about you when you're at the gym
Picture the scene: you’re in the gym, giving it absolute socks on the treadmill. You’re sweating buckets (so attractive, right?) and you know that this is your body’s way of telling you that you’re losing water. After a while, your concentration starts to go a bit hazy and your mind begins to wander...
One minute you’re daydreaming about what you’re going to have for your dinner when you get home, the next you’re on the floor because you’ve messed up your rhythm completely and taken a tumble off the treadmill. Mortifying!
How to recover:
If you ever find yourself in this situation it would be so easy to just cancel your gym membership on the spot and never return to the establishment again but let’s be realistic about this: this gym is handy and do you really feel like lugging your workout gear across town just so you can go to another one? Answer: no, no you don’t.
Once you’ve made sure that you’re okay and haven’t seriously injured yourself, calmly get up, grab your things and head to the changing room – your workout is officially over for today.
Remember: gyms are busy places and people are constantly coming and going all the time. The chances of the same people being at the gym the next time you visit it are slim. Yes you had an embarrassing moment but no one is likely to bring it to your attention again.
A word of warning though: always make sure your body is hydrated when you’re at the gym. Not only is it good for you, it can stop you from experiencing another embarrassing lack of concentration.
When you can’t think straight... hydrate.
