Embarrassing moments – we all have them and when we’re dehydrated we tend to have even more of them. This is because dehydration causes us to lose our mental focus and do silly things.
For the next six weeks we’re teaming up with Deep RiverRock to have a look at some of the most embarrassing things that can happen to us and, more importantly, how to recover from these awkward instances.
You can recover from any mortifying moment, but if you’d like to try and avoid them completely, it’s worth keeping yourself hydrated so your wits are always in tip-top condition.
Remember: the human body is made up of at least 60 per cent water. So stay hydrated and keep your cool no matter what happens!

Avoid embarrassing moments while shopping by keeping yourself hydrated
You may not think it but dehydration can strike when you’re out on a Saturday, browsing the shops with your bestie or your sister or your mammy. All that walking and carrying causes you to use up more water than usual and you may find yourself with a slight headache and a tired mind that can lead to some seriously mortifying moments...
Example? Imagine you’re browsing the racks at a shop with your bestie/sister/mammy and they ask you what you think of a dress. You’re tired and dehydrated and this means that you react without thinking.
Your reaction is to respond with by gasping “Oh my god. That dress is absolutely hideous! Who in their right mind would be caught dead wearing something like THAT?!” You’re left feeling horribly embarrassed when your companion tells you that they’ve just bought the same one. Awkward.
How to recover:
This is a tough one to recover from because you run the risk of majorly hurting your companion’s feelings.
A good way to handle this is to tell a little white lie and say that while the dress looks terrible on the shop model, it looks so much better on your friend/sister/mother that you didn’t even realise you were looking at the same dress.
We’ll admit that this is a bit of a stretch but it could work. Failing that, it’s probably best to start grovelling and to apologise profusely.
The above situation is a classic example of why you should always make sure you have a bottle of Deep RiverRock on hand for those long shopping expeditions – keeping yourself hydrated will ensure that you don’t make an awkward slip-up like the above.
When you can’t think straight... hydrate.
