There is no end in sight to the stormy conditions that have battered the country over the past week. National meteorological service Met Éireann have issued a status Orange Alert for today and warned of further flooding across the country. Another storm will be tracking over Ireland until 9pm tonight, producing heavy precipitation and gales in places. Several Yellow Alerts remain in place also, including a wind warning for Munster and Leinster, with gale force easterly winds of mean speeds up to 65km per hour and gusts of 80 to 110km per hour expected, strongest in exposed coastal areas. Meanwhile there is a Rainfall Warning for Munster, Leinster, Connacht, Donegal, Monaghan and Cavan, with heavy rain expected in all areas and between 30 and 45 mm due to fall over the next 24 hours. We can’t expect a rise in temperatures either; a snow-ice Warning is in place for Connacht, Cavan, Monaghan, Donegal, Kildare, Longford, Westmeath and Meath. Snow is expected in parts of Connacht, Ulster and north Leinster with accumulations of up to 3 cm in places. Stay safe out there, it’s going to be a rough weekend…
