"People who have compromised immune systems, such as diabetics, people with HIV, the elderly or anyone with vascular disease or circulation problems, are more at risk. Dr. Sutera explains that micro-tears caused by shaving allow bacteria to enter the leg, which can cause serious infections including cellulitis, warning that you can literally "end up in hospital".
