Next time someone criticises your snooze button etiquette, point them in this guy’s direction.
A discussion about etiquette regarding the snooze button on an alarm clock is something that could keep you going in the pub for hours.
Some insist that it’s a refuge of the lazy and that you should be up and out of the bed as soon as the alarm sounds.
Others prefer to press it once or twice before facing up to the realities of a day while others still will press it repeatedly for up to an hour or more in an attempt to repeatedly catch 40 winks and delay getting up out of bed for as long as possible.
Raymond Bowling, from Austin in Texas, is certainly glad he decided to go for one more 5-10 minute nap earlier this week after a tree branch came through the roof of his bathroom between the toilet and sink moments after he pressed the snooze button on his alarm clock.
Bowling posted a picture of the massive tree branch after it plunged through the roof on his Facebook page and reckons he would have been standing in that exact position or close enough to it when it came through the roof had he got up out of bed when the alarm first sounded.
While it’s hard to say exactly how much damage it would have caused him, it’s something you’d rather not find out.
"I had actually stood up to go to the bathroom to get ready for work but decided to let the snooze go off one more time and laid back down," Bowling told WAVE 3 News.
"I never do that. The limb came through literally minutes later before the snooze went off again. And that's exactly where I would have been standing. Good Lord is looking out for me today."
Granted, the circumstances are a bit extreme but if you’re ever looking for a defence of your snooze button protocol in future, you’re not going to get much better than this.
