So grab those free tickets here! As you know, our Her podcast - Girls with Goals - strives to cater best to Irish women. Whether it's a simple chat, a few giggles, discussions over topical issues and more - we want in on it. Advocating for women (and society as a whole) means shouting about womens careers, dreams, aspirations, and of course - relationships and sex! Yep, great sex is a very important part of the package. So one of our goals (pardon the pun) is to set a high standard for our sex lives. That's why we'll be talking all about sexual wellness in Ireland today, where it stands, and we'll be pushing for a kind of sexual revolution around sexual education, plus how we view and talk about sex. We’re not only referring to pleasure (although that helps), but also the importance of understanding risks that come with sex, how important it is to feel comfortable, and why we need to be able to talk about EVERYTHING and ANYTHING sex related. We've NO time for TABOOS. It's vital we always have safe sex, but recently, through our research with the morning after pill, ellaOne, we found out that 33 percent of 18 to 24 year-olds have experienced contraceptive failure during sex. Over 2,000 young Irish people took part in the research and it was found that the of majority of 18 to 24-year-olds believe that having unprotected sex (and not taking the morning after pill) is more risky than swimming with sharks, skydiving or rock climbing without a harness, yet, 56 percent of those surveyed admitted to having unprotected sex in the past. Seventeen percent of these claimed they have unprotected sex 'every time' or the 'majority of times' too. Yep, it's all pretty scary and plenty of people agree that not enough is being done to really educate teens (and all of us, generally) about the birds and the bees and all things in between. So we've decided to bring our podcast show to Griffith College, this Wednesday, October 17, from 1pm to 2pm, to chat about ALL things SEX. And you can grab your tickets here!
