A new survey has found that Friday is by far the least productive day of the week in Irish workplaces, with 62% of respondents admitting that they start winding down when the weekend is just around the corner.
The survey also found that mid-afternoon (4-6pm) is the least productive time of the day – a finding that will come as no surprise to workers familiar with the dreaded post-lunch ‘slump’.
On the positive side, Tuesday has emerged as Ireland’s most productive day of the week, closely followed by Wednesday, with early mornings (9-11am) the most productive time of the day as workers tackle their to-do list for the day ahead.
The survey also asked workers what their companies could do to increase employee happiness. While the highest number (39%) said that additional benefits (e.g. health insurance) would do the trick, a surprisingly large number (32%) opted for flexi-time while a quarter said that more opportunities to work from home would boost morale.
Almost 1 in 5 of respondents said that social outings would improve employee happiness, however the survey found that just 29% of Irish companies organise regular outings for staff.
The survey also quizzed workers about training opportunities with their companies, and while 63% of employers do offer training courses to staff, a huge 66% of employees surveyed said they could benefit from additional training.
