How The Grinch Stole Christmas by Dr. Seuss
It might be a children’s story but it’s one that we still enjoy at Christmas time. With rhymed verses and plenty of illustrations, neither you nor your family will get bored with this book which tells of how the Grinch tried to ruin the most wonderful day of the year.
The Night Before Christmas by Clement Clarke Moore
It’s not a book but this poem, believed to be written by Clement Clarke Moore, is perfect to read on Christmas Eve. As you may well know it sets the scene on the night before Christmas “when all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.”
The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe by C.S Lewis
There’s nothing better than sitting down with a cup of hot chocolate and this compelling novel about the journey of a little girl into the magical world of Narnia. So it’s not exactly a Christmas book but it definitely has something magical about it.
Letters From Father Christmas by J.R.R. Tolkien
This is a collection of letters which the Lord of the Rings author wrote for his children every year between the years of 1920 and 1942. He posed as Father Christmas narrating tales about the North Pole, Goblins and the Northern Lights.
