Chances are that every Monday to Friday worker pulled open the curtains with a sense of trepidation this morning, hardly daring to believe that the current heatwave would do us a favour and last into the weekend, despite what the reports said.
But the sun didn’t abandon us, and it’s not going anywhere anytime soon. The current soaring temperatures are set to last for the whole weekend and in to Monday, with temperatures staying high above normal well into next week!
Ireland has been hotter than holiday hotspots like Ibiza and Tenerife this week, delighting everyone in the country, perhaps with the exception of travel agents.

According to Met Éireann, temperatures will remain well above normal well into next week, with most areas staying dry and warm spells of sunshine in places.
We can expect some low cloud along the west coast on Monday, with Cork, Waterford, Tipperary and much of Leinster seeing the best of the weather. Some patchy rain is expecting amongst the sunny spells on Tuesday and Wednesday, but the even better news is that late next week it looks like it will become even warmer once again, with Met Éireann saying to expect ‘temperatures widely rising to the mid 20s with long spells of sunshine signalled’.
