The popular street was put forward by Dublin City Architects office, with the application being supported by DublinTown.
Throughout the assessing process in September, judges were given guided tours of South William Street and brought to key areas and buildings of the street.
Alistair Barr, who was the lead assessor of the awards, said that "each reinvention [of the street] has added layers of richness and delight to the street’s special place in Dublin.
"The small grain of development allows start-up businesses to flourish and the supportive nature of the business community has encouraged growth," he continued.Explore more on these topics:
