This non-alcoholic drink is perfect for Dry January

It's that time of the year again - Dry January - and if you're wanting an alcohol-free drink that will give you the same 'buzz' as the real stuff then look no further.

People are snapping up a non-alcoholic drink that mimics the same euphoric effects of alcohol, but without the hangover.

The drinks range has been created by Professor David Nutt and his team and is the world's first plant-based drink to have 0% ABV "but still make you tipsy".

In an interview with the Independent, Nutt said: "It's a drink that is based on the science of alcohol, particularly the low doses of alcohol that relax you and make you more sociable."

There are currently three different Sentia spirits to choose from, which are each designed for different occasions: Sentia Red, Sentia Black and Sentia Gold.

So, how does the alcohol-free drink work?

The Sentia spirits are dubbed as "GABA", which is formally known as gamma-aminobutyric acid, that's an inhibitory neurotransmitter in the brain that produces a calming effect.
