The former X Factor judge is the new ambassador for Childline in the UK. She appeared on The One Show to talk about the tireless work of the service and of Childline and her own foundation in Newcastle. Speaking about her new campaign Cheryl says: "Life can be hard sometimes, especially whilst you're growing up, and everyone deserves someone to talk to and help make sense of it all.” "No young person should ever feel afraid, confused or alone so if that's how you are feeling then please get in touch with them (Childline) by phone or online." On the show, Cheryl spoke about the plethora of issues facing young people including the anxiety of coming out, self-harm, revenge porn and sexting. It includes a boy too frightened to tell his dad he is gay, a teenage girl who talks about being sexually abused at home and another who talks about self-harm. "As a teenager I was aware of Childline, but like so many others I mistakenly thought it was just for young kids,” said Cheryl. "The reality is that it doesn't matter whether you are at primary, secondary school or college, or how big or small your problem is, Childline is there for you." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3-CLikh27gM In Ireland, 652,505 calls are made from children to Childline each year. Sadly, 28,000 callers were about abuse and violence, 119,000 about personal issues, 30,000  on sexuality and 9,000 about mental health. That is a lot of children looking for help.
