can't do something, something that would show your talents, make you a happier and more confident person, you might remember how it felt but you'll never forget how it feels to prove all the naysayers wrong.
Special Olympics Ireland changes people's lives. Through sports, nearly 8,000 children and adults with intellectual disabilities across Ireland develop both physically and emotionally, make friends, contribute to their communities and see their dreams come true.
Unfortunately this year, COVID19 quashed the charity's flagship fundraising day which usually takes place in April and brings in a much-needed €500,000. Now, the Special Olympics must use novel ways to gain vital funds and luckily for us, it's easier than ever to give our support!

50300 to donate €4 (a minimum of €3.26 will go straight to Special Olympics Ireland), you can visit
specialolympics.ie to make a donation or to organise a virtual fundraising event AND for the very first time, you can donate through Revolut. Simply open the app, tap your initials/image on the bottom right, go to 'widgets', then 'donations', select 'Special Olympics Ireland' and hit 'Donate'.
However great or small the donation, it works and it sees these wonderful athletes aspire to be their absolute best. So get creative, donate, gather your mates, your community and your colleagues at work.
Special Olympics athletes encounter some of the greatest challenges in our society and so with the help of Hollywood actor (and much-adored) Colin Farrell, Special Olympics Ireland is calling on us, the public, to give all the support we possibly can and help raise half a million euro in crucial funding. Colin said:
"It's so important that we get the public on board to raise much-needed funds for these inspirational children and adults, for whom, sports clubs are a social and health lifeline."
And we couldn't agree more!
It's key that children and adults with an intellectual disability across Ireland get back to what they love and enjoy, whether it be on the pitch, in the pool or centre court. So this month, and especially during awareness week, taking place from
October 12 to national fundraising day, Friday, October 16, shout from the rooftops and help raise those much-needed funds for children and adults for whom sports and the Special Olympics is not just a luxury but an absolute essential.
Support the Special Olympics athletes by making a donation today and through sport, these young people will learn new skills, gain confidence and show the world (yes, the world!) just how marvellous they are and that indeed, they CAN.

Special Olympics athletes have come so far, many have overcome the things they were told they can't do like make friends, swim, ride a bike, go to university, get a job, get a gold medal for their country and much more. The only thing they can't do is stop!
With your help, almost 8,000 children and adults with an intellectual disability across Ireland will get back to the pool, pitch and court. They will meet their friends, learn new skills and show the world, they what they can do again.
