There's nothing worse than filling out a lengthy job application.

Well, we can think of a few things, but it's still a fairly time-consuming experience. The only thing that could make the whole process even worse would be if one of the requirements was that you had to be good looking to get the job. But surely no respectable company would ever specify that an applicant had to be attractive in order to be considered for a role. That would be bizarre. The bar was offering £10 an hour for full time, permanent waiting staff to "provide exceptional service to our customers." Sounds decent enough, except the ad also said that applicants had to be "extremely attractive." Yep, they went there. The ad went on to say that “physical attractiveness is unfortunately necessary for this role" and that candidates should have a "fun, lively, and positive attitude." Waitresses would be expected to wear black heels while they worked, while waiters would need to wear black dress shoes. It wasn't long before the advertisement was posted on social media, where it came under harsh criticism for its blatant disregard for employment equality laws in the UK... and for just being a bit nasty. Twitter users remain baffled as to how (and why) the spec made it up there in the first place. One user said that for an established company, this was "unacceptable." Another asked how the bar planned to measure physical attractiveness at all. Reed responded to the tweet saying that the ad had now been removed from their website, and that they were going to look into the issue.
