There’s something particularly brilliant about this Orwellian instalment.

June 25^th marked the 110^th birthday of the much loved novelist George Orwell and so Dutch duo Thomas voor ‘t Hekke and Bas van Oerle decided to mark the occasion with some cleverly placed party hats.

The accalimed writer who is probably best known for his books Nineteen Eighty-Four and Animal Farm, passed away in 1950 at the age of 46.

This particular artistic instalment reflects the plot of Nineteen Eighty-Four which focussed on a morbid society that was constantly being observed and scrutinised by Big Brother, so the hats on top of surveillance cameras were quite fitting!

“By making these inconspicuous cameras that we ignore in our daily lives catch the eye again we also create awareness of how many cameras really watch us nowadays, and that the surveillance state described by Orwell is getting closer and closer to reality” say voor’t Hekke and van Oerle.
