Would you share your car with your boyfriend?

Well, this is what one woman is trying to figure out and she turned to Reddit asking for help.

Explaining the situation she wrote: "My boyfriend and I see each other a lot. He has a small car that's horrible on gas and I have a bigger, more comfortable and honestly nicer SUV that's great on gas that we drive to most dates. I don't mind this and never have.

"The problem is, over three years he's become increasingly clumsy. He's spilled multiple drinks in the car, trashed the passenger of my car and constantly leaves his things.

"Before you say him leaving his things in my car is cute, it isn't. He constantly leaves his phone, wallet, hats, keys, drinks, food and anything else he has in the car regularly by accident and most of the time expects me to bring them to him."

Though it seems like the answer is obvious, just talk it out, the poster said that she's tried but it's got her nowhere.

"I have had multiple kind and supportive conversations about how he can go about developing habits to remember his things and be mindful, I see no improvement," she continued.

Now things have come to a head after he left his phone charger in her car and "demanded" she drove over to his house with it, which she refused to do.

It seems the Redditor has had enough as she explained: "I told him that for the time being my car is off limits to him. This is not permanent but will last until he can show me that he is making an effort to be more mindful and respectful of my property."

Now she's wondering if she was wrong for setting this boundary but lucky for her it seems most people are on her side.

"Your car, your rules. I don’t allow eating or drinking in my car. My spouse has a different set of rules. We respect each other and we help detail our vehicles so they don’t become trashed. Your dude needs a backpack and a checklist," commented one.

Another added: "This is an adult man, right? Not a toddler? Unlike women's clothes, men's clothes have pockets! There is no reason on this green earth for him to leave his keys, wallet or phone in your car."

"He messes up your car, and expects YOU to sort it out when he's careless with his belongings? And acts annoyed when you don't? The audacity," a third wrote.
