PETA - or People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals - are known for their controversial campaigns.
Some argue that the American animal rights organisation are justified in their shock tactics if they ultimately grab the attention and change public perception of cruelty towards animals. Others suggest their ads are often disingenuous, irresponsible and counter-productive to the cause.
Their latest campaign is focused on the supposed effects of chicken consumption by expectant mothers on their male offspring. Essentially PETA claim that phthalates, a chemical often used in pesticides, is now found in chicken flesh - and supposedly has a detrimental effect on the genital size of offspring.
According to the PETA video, entitled 'Eating Chicken Can Make Your Son's Dick Small':
"A recent study showed that a mother's poultry consumption during pregnancy correlated with her kid's penis size. The more chicken consumed, the smaller the dick. Worried about the size of your kid's pecker, moms-to-be? Don't eat chicken!"

As you can probably assume, the ad hasn't gone down very well at all. With many claiming it is both extremely distasteful and factually incorrect...
