We’ve all been there: you’re on your way to your first date with a guy you’ve just met when suddenly you get all panicky about where the boundaries are and how you should act.

Well, the panic is over. Here is a list of the things you should NEVER do on a first date... unless of course you don’t want a second!

1. Tell him you love him

You’ve only known him for like 30 seconds.

2. Laugh at all of his jokes

We’re not saying don’t laugh at his jokes, just be careful not to laugh at all of them including the ones that are bordering on terrible. You never know, you might end up having to do it for the rest of your life.

3. Order the spaghetti Bolognese

It’s just too messy.

 

4. Cry

You know it’s a possibility and no he won’t find it endearing, he’ll think it’s weird and won’t know what to do. So bite your lip, look away, run to the bathroom – do whatever you have to do to stop those tears.

5. Get drunk

This usually leads to tears (see above) or you doing something incredibly embarrassing like throwing up all over him or falling on your backside.

6. Reveal too much skin

Less is more.

7. Mention something you wouldn’t know if you hadn’t had a Facebook creep beforehand

You are never going to talk your way out of that one!

8. Talk about your fetishes

It’s probably not the right time to start calling him Mr Grey and joking about fluffy handcuffs.

9. Mention your exes or why you have been single for so long

You are not on this date because you want to continue being single.

10. Talk about weddings and/or babies

As with former flames, weddings and babies are forbidden topics. He’s not even thinking about what he’s doing after this date never mind walking down the aisle and having triplets.

 

11. Lie

Either he won’t believe you or you’ll end up dating and he will eventually find out the truth.

12. Try to eat his food

Think of Joey in Friends. Guys generally don’t like sharing food and put it this way, you might want to try a piece of his steak but do you really want him stealing one of your profiteroles?

13. Forget to bring money

Sure he might be traditional and/or loaded but always assume that you will pay for your share.

14. Bring your family along or arrange to ‘accidentally’ meet them after
