10 Things Women Need to Do that Men Don’t Understand

There are certain things women do that men do not and will never understand. And that’s fine just as long as they realise that just because they can’t get their heads around it, doesn’t mean we won’t still have to do them.

1. Have a good moan

Let’s just admit it, there’s nothing we love more than a good moan. No we didn’t get the dress we wanted. And yes that waiter was rude to us. And we just don’t know if we can afford that holiday. All of these things are worthy of a good moan and you know what, it’s healthy to moan and we would encourage you to have a good rant. It helps get rid of all that negative feeling and yes, the fact that you have your moment to complain is far more important than solving the problem itself. What’s the problem?

2. Eat chocolate

Chocolate is like the other guy in a relationship. It’s what you turn to when you’re sad, happy, upset, crampy, lonely, basically any time. And yes it is a form of comfort eating, which isn’t ideal, but if men had to deal with periods they’d comfort eat a hell of a lot of chocolate too! Guys will thus never have the same relationship that girls do with chocolate and frankly we’re happy about that. At least that way, we don’t have to share.

3. Know what’s happening on a night out

If you’re like us, you’ll ask certain questions if you are heading out for the evening. When are we leaving? Where are we going? What’s the occasion? The reason for the impromptu game of 20 questions is that we need to know what to wear of course. Unlike men, we can’t just throw on a pair of jeans and a t-shirt for any and every occasion. We also have to know when we are leaving so as to have enough time to wash, dry and curl our hair. Hello, it takes time to look this good!

4. Buy something when the sales are on

So we’ll admit there doesn’t necessarily have to be a sale on but it does help if what we’re buying turns out to be half price. And yes sometimes we’ll buy something that we wouldn’t otherwise look twice at, but there’s money off so it has to come home. Men wouldn’t complain if it was a 40 inch television we were bringing home and we reckon they’re just jealous because they can’t seek out a bargain like we can.

5. Have a cry fest every so often

We’ll admit that it must be scary/annoying when a girl starts crying but it is necessary every so often. It’s like there’s only so many unshed tears we can hold in our bodies. The thing to remember is that crying is a natural thing and anything can set it off, including the part in Castaway when Wilson the ball floats off. And sometimes it’s not even about thing that sets you off. Sometimes you start to cry about something totally different after a while. Then again, sometimes you cry for no reason in particular. We just (sob)… can’t (sob)… explain it (sob)…

6. Put makeup on when going out into public

Women have a certain image to uphold. That image requires makeup. It doesn’t matter whether we’re going for a night out with everyone we know or popping to the shop for ten minutes, makeup is a necessity. It’s not just about the fear of someone you know seeing you, it’s more about making yourself feel better and we celebrate confident and content ladies so if makeup makes you happy, get applying.

7. Go to the toilets with other girls

Contrary to popular belief, women don’t go to the toilet to have lesbian kisses or talk about the men left sitting at the table. They wish! In fact, we don’t quite know why we go to the toilet with other women. We reckon it’s a comfort thing. Also it helps to have someone to check your lippy isn’t smudged or your dress isn’t caught up in your knickers. Just like men don’t understand this tradition, we don’t understand their insistence on mentioning it every time it happens.

8. Have a huge handbag

Yes we could fit a small child in our bags but that’s not the reason we carry it with us. You need a large bag so that you can pack it with all the things you need. Like your purse, your phone, your makeup, your Filofax, your umbrella in case it rains, your cardigan in case it gets cold, your pumps in case your heels give you blisters… Okay so everything that goes into a big handbag isn’t an absolute necessity but we’d rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

9. Watch soaps and dramas

It’s called escapism. What could be better than putting your feet up in front of the television with a cup of tea in your hand? Pretty much nothing, except talking to your friends about what you saw on the television with your feet up and a cup of tea in your hand. Women do like to talk about soaps and dramas as if it’s real life because it’s fun and at least this sort of gossiping is healthy.

10. Get spa treatments

We’re so busy running around trying to find out what we’re doing tonight, packing our large handbags and going to the toilets with our friends that we occasionally like to sit back and get pampered. With our manicured nails, massaged feet and exfoliated faces, we can start this crazy routine all over again.

So the next time your man asks why you do any of these things just tell them that you don’t expect them to understand. After all we don’t ask them why they need to leave the toilet seat up all the time, do we?
