Selena Gomez confirmed she has SIBO

The actress announced the news when she was responding to a troll on TikTok.

A video, which has since been deleted, showed Gomez holding her stomach at the American French Film Festival.

The former Disney star slated the video and stressed that she is not ashamed of how she looks.

She said: "This makes me sick. I have [SIBO] in my small intestine. It flares up.

Gomez added: "I don’t care that I don’t look like a stick figure.

"I don’t have that body. End of story. No I am NOT a victim. I’m just human," she wrote.

Gomez has often spoken out about her health in an open and honest way. The singer has lupus and also underwent a kidney transplant in 2017.

She suffers from bipolar disorder, anxiety, and depression.

This is the first time she has publically spoken out about SIBO, but she has been praised for being so honest about it.

Fans believe she will help raise awareness about the condition by confirming her diagnosis.

What are the symptoms of SIBO?

The main symptoms of SIBO include:

• Loss of appetite
• Abdominal pain
• Nausea
• Bloating
• An uncomfortable feeling of fullness after eating
• Diarrhea
• Unintentional weight loss
• Malnutrition

SIBO is caused when there is an abnormal increase in the overall bacterial population in a person's small intestine.

The main causes of the condition include complications of abdominal surgery and structural problems in and around your small intestine.

It may also be caused by certain medical issues, including diabetes, Crohn's disease, and celiac disease.
