Two american women are suing the brand because they say that it caused irritation to their skin and resulted in acne.
Plaintiffs Kaylee Browning and Sarah Basile are suing St. Ives parent company Unilever for $5 million, claiming that the product had similar effects to sandpaper on their skin according to TMZ.
They also take issue with the fact the product states that is it tested by dermatologist. This is true, but concerning, apparently the product is tested by skin doctors but not recommended by them.
ATTN: reports that this is not the first time people have complained about the negative affects of this product. In 2001 online reviews stated similar problems while a Reddit thread in 2014 discussed the same.
Many other people use it and don't report any problems but it is concerning that so many are reporting damaging issues.
The lawsuit is currently taking place so no final word on the outcome just yet.
