Emphasis is placed on the National Youth 'Huddle' Day because it is between the ages of 15 and 35 that these conditions are often diagnosed.
Inflammatory bowel disease, a term which refers to both Crohn's and ulcerative colitis, affects over 20,000 Irish people.
Symptoms of IBD include exhaustion, diarrhoea, an uncontrollable need to go to the toilet and in some cases severe stomach pain.
The Youth Day provides current members a chance to explain the benefits of joining the society while also providing support and information to those thinking of joining up.
