There's so many different toothpastes on the market at the moment and narrowing down your choice to just one can be rather difficult.
However, if you suffer from sensitive teeth, you'll know that it's very important to use a toothpaste specifically designed for your teeth type.
In a bid to find a toothpaste that helps this problem, we and some of our readers, have been trying out Colgate® Sensitive Pro-Relief™ toothpaste.
One member of the Her.ie team, Cathy, finds her teeth get irritated quite easily but by using a product targeted to deal with this problem, she's noticed a considerable difference.
Her.ie review - Cathy
My teeth have been known to give me quite the headache, literally. I'm sure many of you are familiar with the sharp pain that is associated with eating ice-cold foods (ice-cream) or warm foods (soup). For those of you haven't, well it's not fun!
The good news is I've found that sticking to a toothpaste that is designed for sensitive teeth reduces my teeth sensitivity. While other toothpastes might numb the pain at the time, I can't say I've noticed any lasting effect.
This would explain why I haven't stuck with a toothpaste for longer than the time it take to finish one tube.
That might be about to change (fingers crossed anyway). Since starting to use Colgate® Sensitive Pro-Relief™, I've noticed that my teeth aren't bothering me half as much as they used to.
At the moment, I'm using it twice a day, at morning and at night, and so far so good.

I've been using Colgate® Sensitive Pro-Relief™ for 7 days now and what a difference it has made. I can go a day now having hot or cold in my mouth with no sensitivity. What a relief, I would recommend this product to anyone with this problem.

On opening this tube of paste, I noticed how different it was to my usual brand of toothpaste. Colgate® Sensitive Pro-Relief™ comes in a closed tube that you have to open by screwing the tube into the back of the lid, meaning your tube of toothpaste is at its freshest.
I applied Colgate® Sensitive Pro-Relief™ to my toothbrush and instantly noticed that it's not overly minty. I have very sensitive teeth at the moment due to dental work.
My dentist told me this could happen and recommended me a brand that wasn't helping my symptoms. I recently had a crown fitted on one of my teeth (7th of July) leaving my surrounding teeth sensitive to brushing and also eating and drinking certain food and drinks.
After reading the leaflet that came with the toothpaste I decided not only to brush my teeth like I would with my normal paste but also to apply the product directly to the sensitive area using my finger. I felt that by using both methods as instructed that maybe I would get some relief.
I feel I have put this product through one of the toughest of tests and I am glad to say it passed with flying colours. This morning, while brushing my teeth I placed the Colgate® Sensitive Pro-Relief™ toothpaste in the sensitive area for about two minutes and then brushed my teeth as normal.
Due to the lovely weather on my lunch break my colleagues decided to get an ice cream, this has been a complete no no for me while I have been suffering with sensitivity but I thought let’s see if Colgate® Sensitive Pro-Relief™ toothpaste really works.
It did, it really did. I waited for that sharp pain and it didn't happen. I tested it later on in the week with a cold can of coke, waited for the sharp pain and nothing. It was like my sensitive teeth had fixed themselves.
In the past I have always believed a toothpaste cannot “do it all". If it is a sensitive toothpaste, then that is all it is targeted for, however I must admit I am wrong.
This paste does relieve sensitivity but also cleans your teeth leaving them feeling freshly brushed for several hours. I would highly recommend this toothpaste to anyone suffering from sensitivity.

Pure, fresh, clean – the three words that describe how your mouth feels after using Colgate® Sensitive Pro-Relief™toothpaste. It instantly relieves sensitivity by physically plugging open dentinal tubules, which helps block pain sensations from reaching the tooth nerves.
Colgate® Sensitive Pro-Relief™ contains fluoride that effectively protects teeth from cavities the same as your standard fluoride toothpaste. It leaves a very pleasant minty taste that has an immediate impact on the sensitive area. After trying Colgate® Sensitive Pro-Relief™, I won't be using any other brand of toothpaste again.

I like the fact it is a paste, no waste and you use exactly the right amount. The tube is of very good quality, easy to use not flimsy. I feel the area between my lower front teeth is less sensitive now to cleaning with floss.
It has a strong aftertaste immediately after brushing but I got around this with a good rinse of water after using so this was not an issue. Remember to put the lid on after using, it's a paste so it can become hard.

After trying every toothpaste for sensitive teeth, I’ve never had anything work very successfully or consistently until now.
Toothpastes that I’ve used in the past simply worked by numbing the pain, not removing the cause of my sensitivity. However, Colgate® Sensitive Pro-Relief™ plugs the channels leading to the nerves.
I had my tonsils out recently so cold drinks were a necessity. If pain struck I could simply apply the toothpaste to the source with my finger for one minute. The pain was eliminated immediately.
Using the product every day as my regular toothpaste, I have noticed my sensitivity decrease overall, with my pain virtually gone. My teeth are in some of the best shape they've ever been. Sensitivity is gone and I highly recommend this product.
What's the answer to sensitive teeth?
Try Colgate® Sensitive Pro-Relief™. It is clinically proven to address the cause of sensitivity rather than just numbing the pain. It is recommended that you use Colgate® Sensitive Pro-Relief toothpaste twice a day or as directed by a dentist for lasting relief.
