It's officially National Breast Reconstruction Awareness Day (BRA Day) and to celebrate, Beautiful After Breast Cancer (A.B.C.) Ireland are holding an information evening in St Vincent's Private Hospital at 7.30pm.
The event is aimed at women who have had (or are about to have) a mastectomy as a result of breast cancer and may be considering reconstructive surgery.
Attendees will hear from Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons and patients who have undergone reconstructive surgery. Meanwhile, the event will also cover the various options available for immediate and delayed reconstruction, after which attendees will be invited to ask questions. Wig specialists, mastectomy lingerie specialists and skincare specialists will also be present, and guests will have the opportunity to visit their stalls for more information.
Beautiful A.B.C is a charity that offers support and information to women who have undergone, or are about to undergo, a mastectomy and are considering breast reconstruction.
The charity is concerned with raising awareness of breast reconstruction in Ireland, specifically around the belief that a beautiful life is possible after breast cancer, with or without reconstruction. Mr Morrison is a board member of Beautiful A.B.C and will discuss how the charity can support Irish patients in terms of providing information and access to local services and support groups.
Entry to the event is free with free parking and all are welcome. There will be lots of goodies and prizes up for grabs this evening too and the lecture will be held in the main Atrium area beside Reception.
BRA day is a global initiative designed to promote education, awareness and access for women who may wish to consider post-mastectomy breast reconstruction.
