The easiest thing to do when there is no food in the fridge, or, let's be honest, when you're too lazy to cook, is to get a takeaway.
It's also the perfect way to soothe a hangover. But, if you're looking to order food in a hurry then you might want to consider an alternative option if you're ordering during the busiest periods of the day and week.
JustEat has conducted research which shows that the busiest times for ordering takeaways is from 7pm to 9pm. Interestingly, the most popular day is Sunday.
So, if you want to ensure you don't get caught up in delays, maybe avoid the 7pm-9pm window and plan in advance on a Sunday.
The insights into Irish people's takeaway habits showed a surge in lunchtime orders with a 44% increase last year. Restaurants in Dublin such as Chopped, Wagamamas, Milano’s, Eddie Rockets and Gourmet Burger, who have recently been added to Just Eat, have been a huge influence in the increase, with people opting to avoid the queue on their lunchtime.
Just Eat Marketing Director, Edel Kinane said:
“It’s interesting to see how Irish consumers are exploring the huge range available and trying new cuisines and flavours with Mexican and BBQ on the rise since January, adding to the already massive increase in demand in Japanese, Vietnamese, Korean and Malaysian cuisines.
While between 7 and 9pm remains the most popular time of the day to place an order, it is great to see the other moments throughout the day when order numbers peak, such as lunchtime.
Looking ahead for the rest of year, we anticipate a further increase in demand for new flavours as consumers choose to eat more around their own schedule instead of scheduling traditional mealtimes.”
