New York is a city for food lovers.
From the Cronut to its legendary pizza, the US city is a hub for culinary innovation and uniquely delicious inventions.
The latest trend sweeping the city is a new ice cream flavour created by famous ice cream parlour Morgensterns in the city.
It's a deep charcoal black flavour called Coconut Ash, and is flavoured with coconut flesh, flakes and oddly enough, the charred shell of the coconut giving it that pitch black hue.
Apparently, the flavour is very subtle but you need to be a tidy eater to enjoy it, as you risk looking like you ate black tar because the flavour stains your skin.
What do we think, would you try this or have a go of a Twister instead?
Store owner Nick Morgenstern told
MIC:
"I had been monkeying around with coconut ash for a while and then I had this fancy chocolate bar that used coconut ash.I knew I had to use it. We wanted to put a coconut ice cream on the menu and it all came together."
