Those long days of standing in line waiting for your Big Macs and a McFlurry could soon be a thing of the past as McDonald's look into launching delivery services worldwide.
They've announced plans to roll out their own delivery services in a bid to combat falling visits to their restaurants over the past five years.
“Restaurant delivery is a $100 billion market and it’s exploded,” Senior Vice-President Lucy Brady, who runs strategy for the chain, said at an investor day in Chicago. “There’s a significant opportunity that we haven’t even tapped into yet.”
McDonald’s already delivers in countries such as China, South Korea, and Singapore, and they see some countries around Europe as unexploited markets.
"Through enhanced technology to elevate and modernize the customer experience, a focus on the quality and value of our food and redefined convenience through delivery, we have a bold vision for the future and the urgency to act on it," McDonald’s chief executive Steve Easterbrook wrote in a statement to investors.
The fast-food chain also unveiled plans to bring in mobile ordering and payment to 20,000 restaurants in some of its larger markets by the end of 2017.
