Air New Zealand is trialling edible coffee cups in a bid to tackle waste on flights. Made from a vanilla biscuit base that is leak-proof (thankfully), the cups are the airline's latest attempt to crack down on the amount of waste they're producing through single-use containers. The company had been using plant-based compostable cups for the past few years, but have said they want to aim to avoid sending any cups to landfill in the future. “We’ve been working in partnership with innovative New Zealand company Twiice to explore the future of edible coffee cups,” said Air New Zealand's Nike Chave. https://www.instagram.com/p/B5oFLRZlA5a/ “The cups have been a big hit with the customers who have used these and we’ve also been using the cups as dessert bowls.” The containers, made by edible coffee cup company Twiice, are baked in such a way to avoid crumbling and leakages, while still retaining a crispiness "... at least as long as it takes to drink your coffee, and longer." Twiice's Jamie Cashmore applauded the airline for deciding to trial the cups.
