One scroll down through your Instagram and I guarantee you will see girls posing and what will be visible is a predominant gap between their inner thighs.
That space between the thighs is called "a thigh gap" and since 2013 it has been picking up worrying momentum with girls fixated on too, creating that space between their inner thighs to give the illusion of being "super skinny".
The hashtag "thigh gap" was even banned by Instagram due to the volume of pictures tagged that show underweight women and others sharing tips on how to achieve the "thigh gap" which were both unhealthy and many telling posts basically said to "starve yourself".
And now, a fitness trainer has spoken out and set the record straight. Basically you CANNOT create a thigh gap in a healthy manner.
According to Madalin Giorgetta, an Australian PT, the only way people can create a thigh gap without starving themselves is due to genetics, hip shape and posture - basically all things that are out of a person's control.
Madalin who has a "thigh gap" herself, explains that it is due to the way her hips are shaped and stays like that when she gains or looses weight.
"We all have different body shapes – sometimes people have a gap between their legs, sometimes they don’t. There is no exercise you can do that will achieve a thigh gap," Madalin explains on her YouTube channel below.
So those girls with a "thigh gap"on Instagram are either naturally like that OR starving themselves to achieve that look and TBH, we would prefer to exercise, remain healthy and enjoy our chocolates and takeaways when we please thank you very much.
This is another one of those fads where we will look back and cringe thinking about how it was such a big deal. Yawn.

Is Exomind actually worth the hype? Over the years, brain fog has become a prominent part of my life. I attribute this to a busy pace of living that leaves me with less time to process and reflect on daily life to the extent I’d like to. I’m also fond of a night out, which […]
