We all love our uisce, but we also know plastic water bottles are pretty bad for the environment.
According to a recent campaign, in 2016 alone Irish consumers spent around €76.5 million on bottled water and around €38 million annually on the disposal of them.
The environmental impacts of using plastic material are well documented: they pollute our oceans and around 80% of plastics found in the ocean come directly from land-based sources.
So, what can be done to aid the world's packaging problems and reduce the risk to our (only) planet?
Ooho is an edible water balloon that's expected to change the way we drink, the sachets are flexible packets of water, drunk by tearing a hole and pouring into your mouth, or consumed whole. The sphere itself has a double gelatinous membrane.
Yes... they look a little interesting, and we may have to get used to them, but we think this could be the way of the future.
Created by a trio of London-based engineers in 2014, the product is due to come on the market shortly thanks to a massive marketing and crowd funding project.
The product is 100% natural and biodegradable and entirely made of seaweed.
