Drinking coffee isn't just keeping us awake throughout the day
I drink as much coffee as Lorelai Gilmore and often worry about the impact my Stars Hollow-approved drinking habits have on my health.
However, a skincare expert has found that drinking coffee can have an incredible impact on your skin.
According to skincare guru Andreea Costina, your daily cup of coffee may help tackle skincare issues like redness, acne, and rosacea.
Many of us rely on coffee for that essential morning boost, but your daily cup could also be working wonders for your skin.
Andreea explained that coffee keeps us energised, but it is also full of antioxidants.
It also has bioactive compounds that may support overall skin health.
Andreea Costina explained that coffee’s natural compounds, such as polyphenols and caffeine, can help protect the skin from environmental stressors like sun damage and pollution.
Speaking to Coffee Friend, skincare expert Andreea Costina revealed that coffee can strengthen your skin barrier.
"Some studies have shown that drinking coffee enriched with plant-based compounds can lead to better skin hydration, stronger barrier function, and improved circulation. So, to put it simply, it may help your skin hold moisture better and recover faster from irritation."
It can also help calm inflammation caused by conditions like rosacea.
“There has been research that shows people who drink four or more cups of caffeinated coffee a day have a lower risk of developing rosacea. Decaf didn’t offer the same effect. If hot drinks trigger flushing for you, iced coffee might be a gentler option.”
"Research on coffee and inflammation is mixed, but moderate consumption (around two to four cups a day) may help reduce chronic inflammation markers. Just make sure you skip the sugary extras, as those can undo the benefits.”
