If you're feeling unhappy in your relationship, you're not alone.
Many singletons dream of being settled and happy in a relationship, but as the old adage goes, be careful what you wish for.
While you're sitting feeling glum about being alone for this Christmas (in the romantic sense) don't fret too much as there could be many partners wishing they were in your position.
Spotted on The Huffington Post, behavioural economist Dan Ariely has advised anyone in a relationship pining for singledom to stop while they're ahead as it could be having a negative effect on your love life.
Dan says that idealising the single life and even lusting for someone else can doom your current relationship.
"When we’re in a relationship but continuously with one foot out and continuously thinking about how the outside world is more tempting and more interesting, it’s actually not a good recipe for investing in a relationship...
"It’s not a zero-sum game; [a relationship] gets better when you invest in it."
How interesting.
Perhaps this Christmas, it may be advisable to be grateful for what you do have rather than what you don't.
