There’s a new Harper Beckham photo to coo over every week and Victoria and David’s boys are already making names for themselves in the worlds of sport and fashion – so it would be fair enough to assume that the former Spice Girl named ‘Celeb Mum of the Year’ this past weekend would be Posh.
Not so! Victoria’s former bandmate Mel C instead collected the prize, admitting she was “really chuffed” with the honour.
Mel, who is mother to four-year-old Scarlet, took her own mother Joan O’Neill to yesterday’s awards ceremony, which will be broadcast on Channel 5 this Mother’s Day.
The singer will travel to Australia later this year to perform in a production of Jesus Christ Superstar, and said balancing a career with being a mother does create issues; "It brings a whole new set of problems with the jigsaw puzzle of childcare and the guilt you feel from being away.
"So that's interesting and it's something you're constantly working on, getting the balance right."

Hillsborough campaigner Margaret Aspinall was also named a Mum of the Year at the emotional ceremony, honoured with the Tesco Campaigning Mum of the Year award on behalf of all the families who have spent the past 23 years fighting for justice. Her 18-year-old son, James, died in the Hillsborough disaster.
