Gardaí are investigating a number of creches in Dublin following an expose by RTÉ Investigations Unit.
According to the Irish Independent, Giraffe facility at Belarmine in Stepaside and Links creche at Abington in Malahide are among those being looked at.
The claims relate to staff shouting at and mishandling children in their care. There is no suggestion that they were subjected to physical or sexual assault.
Both facilities have already taken action with regards to the allegations. Links announced they had suspended three staff members and dismissed one for "wholly inappropriate, inexcusable and unacceptable" behaviour while Giraffe has suspended two employees.
The HSE confirmed that a total of three creches are under investigation by its Children and Family Services unit.
In a statement it said: "HSE Children and Family Services received reports yesterday from gardaí regarding three independent childcare facilities in the Dublin area.
"HSE Children and Family services are working with an Garda Síochána to review the reports and make an assessment with respect to any child welfare and protection concerns."
Complaints were reportedly lodged by parents after they were contacted by RTÉ about the footage which was shot by an undercover reporter.
The broadcaster is said to be helping the authorities and the HSE with the investigation and announced that a report relating to the quality of childcare would be aired.
