Gilmore Girls fans rejoiced yesterday when a trailer was released for the upcoming reboot of the show. Set almost 10 years since the original series ended, we're back once more in Stars Hollow to revisit the lives of Rory and Lorelai Gilmore.
Yesterday gave us a real taster of what to expect when it hits Netflix on November 25th.
But while we got to see some of our favourite characters returning to the show there was one person missing, grandad Richard. The actor who played Richard, Edward Herrmann, died in 2014 so we knew he wouldn't be back in the show but it has led to a very sad detail in the new trailer.
Emily, Richard's wife and Rory's grandmother, is dealing with grief following the loss of her husband. In the trailer, we see Rory and Lorelai at the funeral. The folks over at Buzzfeedhave noticed that the producers went above and beyond to remember the character and even brought in a reference from the original series.
Back in season 3 episode 10, Lorelai was trying to find a present for her dad's birthday and finds out that Rory got him Chuck Berry: Live At The Fillmore on vinyl.
So then at the funeral scene in the trailer, you can see the very same vinyl amongst some items Richard loved.
Here is the album cover in question.
And you can just about make it out on the table.
Excuse us while we BAWL.
