I got to chat with Ruth Negga ahead of the release of her movie Loving, for which she has just received an Oscar nomination. At the time of the interview, Ruth didn't know that she was nominated but we spoke about the possibility anyway.
I knew she would be nominated. Her performance in Loving was incredible. She completely stole the show and made the movie. When complimenting her on this she was very humble and gracious about the possibility of being nominated and certainly wasn't counting her chickens before they hatched.
We're absolutely thrilled for her and hoping she brings home the award.
Ruth spoke about growing up in Limerick. As a Limerick girl myself we spoke about her secondary school which is now closed, what influences in Limerick encouraged her to get into acting and what she misses about Ireland.
