C'mon guys, enough time has passed, we can admit it now.

Twilight came out many years ago. It was a time of promise, a time of intrigue, a time for horny teenagers to finally have somewhere to project their pubescent frustrations. The series came during an era when we needed it most and oh, if the film adaptations didn't totally deliver in almost every aspect. They starred beautiful and worrisome Robert Pattinson. They featured awkward and relatable teen Kristen Stewart. They told the story of one (old) man's intense determination to do whatever it takes to make a young girl his wife and eventual mother of his children despite being like 700 years old. Yeah, Twilight was weird. We can admit it now. It's grand. Another person who has also admitted it is Pattinson himself, who was recently chatting about his decision to star in the series in the first place. He told Variety's Actors on Actors series that he enjoyed director Catherine Hardwicke's previous work, and that was pretty much the reason why he decided to get involved. “I guess the books, they are very romantic, but at the same time, it’s not like The Notebook romantic," he said. “Twilight is about this guy who finds the one girl he wants to be with, and also wants to eat her. Well, not eat — drink her blood or whatever. “I thought it was a strange story. Even the way I promoted it, I was very open about how strange I thought it was when I was doing it." Pattinson added that he thought the first film sounded "very indie" akin to Hardwicke's other movies which include Thirteen and Lords of Dogtown.  A gritty coming-of-age tale it was not, but hey look, we all make mistakes.
