So they’re not the Oscars but the MTV Movie Awards are still regarded as a lot of fun and a big night in the film calendar year.
And this year the two films leading the way in terms of nominations are Quentin Tarantino’s western Django Unchained and Seth MacFarlane’s comedy Ted with seven each.
The two are up against each other for the Movie of the Year but will also have to beat Silver Linings Playbook, The Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises all of which are worthy winners.
Django Unchained is in with a chance of bagging seven awards.
Silver Linings Playbook also looks set to have a good night with six nods altogether including Jennifer Lawrence for Best Female Performance.
She will have to see off strong competition in the form of Anne Hathaway (Les Misérables), Mila Kunis (Ted), Emma Watson (The Perks of Being a Wallflower) and Rebel Wilson (Pitch Perfect) to take home the award.

Both Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper are up for prizes.
Ben Affleck (Argo), Bradley Cooper (Silver Linings Playbook), Daniel Day-Lewis (Lincoln), Jamie Foxx (Django Unchained) and Channing Tatum (Magic Mike) are up for the male equivalent of Best Male Performance.
But onto the more serious titles. Best Shirtless Performance (yes it’s an actual category) will go to either Christian Bale (The Dark Knight Rises), Daniel Craig (Skyfall), Taylor Lautner (The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2), Seth MacFarlane (Ted) or Channing Tatum (Magic Mike).

Ted (played by Seth MacFarlane) is up for Best Shirtless Performance.
As for the hotly-contested Best Kiss award Kerry Washington and Jamie Foxx (Django Unchained), Kara Hayward and Jared Gilman (Moonrise Kingdom), Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper (Silver Linings Playbook), Mila Kunis and Mark Wahlberg (Ted), Emma Watson and Logan Lerman (The Perks of Being a Wallflower) are the couples in with a chance.
