It was an instant TV hit when it aired earlier this year and now the much-loved programme is getting praise from viewers further afield. In fairness, between Granda Joe's put-downs, Sister Michael's deadpan humour, Erin's dramatics and pretty much everything Michelle says, it's a joy to watch and hilariously funny to boot.

It's now available to watch on Netflix in all regions and just like cult comedy Friends before it, social media users are going absolutely wild for it. I mean, they don't know what's going on but they're into it nonetheless. Erin's facial expressions get a mention, standard.

Derry Girls. Remember the name of the best show on Netflix at the moment. Only six half hour episodes about a group of misfit teenagers in 90's Northern Ireland. Sharply written, hilarious all against the backdrop of The Troubles. Worth watching over Xmas for sheer unexpected joy

Also important to note that it's highlighting how much The Troubles impacted people living in Northern Ireland.

Derry Girls on Netflix is fab. Teenage show that starts with Dreams by Cranberries set in a tiny Irish town? I loved it. It has such lovely comedic moments set against the Troubles. I surely didn't realise the impact the conflict had on everyday lives in Northern Ireland.
