This is the best news EVER.
Musical lovers will admit that one of the best out there is Wicked. I've seen it three times at this stage and it gets better every time.
It's a different telling of the popular story of The Wizard of Oz and centres around the Wicked Witch and the events that led her to become so wicked. It's shown from the perspective of the witches.
We've loved it on the West End in London and also when it came to the Bord Gais Energy Theatre and now we will get to see it on the big screen.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Universal Pictures will adapt the much-loved show, with director Stephen Daldry and producer Marc Platt set to work on the new movie.
Also on board are writer Winnie Holzman and composer-lyricist Stephen Schwartz from the Broadway show, so it's bound to be just as good as the stage version.
There is no indication as to who will play the lead roles but it would be great to see Idina Menzel, who first played the part of Elphaba when it was brought to Broadway in 2003. She subsequently went on to win a Tony Award for the role.
Watch her in action here:
It's due for release on December 20th, 2019, which is also a date to mark in the calendar for a yet-to-be-revealed live-action fairy-tale movie from Disney.
Lots to look forward to so.
