Midnight Mass - a new series from Mike Flanagan, the creator of The Haunting of Hill House and The Haunting of Bly Manor - arrives on Netflix in September. While The Haunting of Hill House and Bly Manor were part of an anthology series, Midnight Mass is a standalone show, but promises to deliver that same compelling spookiness. The premise from Netflix reads: "Midnight Mass tells the tale of a small, isolated island community whose existing divisions are amplified by the return of a disgraced young man (Zach Gilford) and the arrival of a charismatic priest (Hamish Linklater). "When Father Paul’s appearance on Crockett Island coincides with unexplained and seemingly miraculous events, a renewed religious fervor takes hold of the community: but do these miracles come at a price?" The series also stars Kate Siegel, Rahul Abburi, Crystal Balint, Matt Biedel, Alex Essoe, Annabeth Gish, Rahul Kohli, Kristin Lehman, Robert Longstreet, Igby Rigney, Annarah Shephard, Samantha Sloyan, Henry Thomas, and Michael Trucco. Midnight Mass drops on Netflix on 24 September, but the trailer arrived on Monday afternoon, and we're sufficiently creeped out already. Fans of The Haunting of Hill House and The Haunting of Bly Manor are excited for the show to premiere, and feel that with Flanagan at the helm, we're in for a treat. On YouTube, one viewer wrote: "I'm hyped. Anything Mike Flanagan does is usually downright brilliant." Another said: "Mike Flanagan is brilliant in everything he produces. I'm very excited." Netflix usually comes in with the goods for horror fans in September, and while the streaming platform has an abundance of spooky original projects, The Haunting of Hill House remains one of its most beloved and frightening.
