Netflix’s Trinkets looks set to be lovely, easy, female friendship-focused viewing

Maybe the real Trinkets were the friends we made along the way.

Look lads, we know. Netflix, NOW TV, and general online viewing has been inundated with upsetting, harrowing, and difficult to watch content for the past while. It's been great, but it's also been tough as the likes of Chernobyl, When They See Us, The Handmaid's Tale, The Act, and The Ted Bundy Tapes continue to be the programmes dominating our screens. Sometimes we just need a little break, you know? We need something that's got a bit of substance, a bit of grit, but is ultimately about female friendships, teenage vulnerability, and all the nasty and also lovely things that come with being a young woman these days. And shoplifting, obviously. Trinkets, adapted from the YA novel of the same name by Kirsten Smith, tells the story of an unlikely friendship that blossoms between three girls who meet during a Shoplifter Anonymous meeting. Elodie, Tabitha, and Moe come together to share their roads to recovery, leave some questionable parts of themselves behind, and learning some new things about each other. It looks class.
