Netflix's Knight Before Christmas has a surprising Irish connection you may have missed.
The streaming service's latest festive film stars Vanessa Hudgens and Josh Whitehouse as Brooke and Sir Cole.
She plays a kind science teacher who has been disillusioned by love and he's the cursed medieval knight she must help return to his time.
Basically, it is the festive film we
definitely needed in the lead up to this holiday season.
But it turns out the movie has a bit of a connection to Ireland, as well.
Yes, some of the scenes from the
Knight Before Christmas were actually filmed at Charleville Castle in Co. Offaly.
The footage was shot over two days last year, with plenty of Irish extras.
And Charleville Castle's Bridget Vance told
Midlands103 how surreal it was to see the Christmas movie being filmed during the summer months.
"The set in the stables was actually for the medieval festival. So everyone had red and green costumes, and there were pigs and donkeys and sheep," she said. "And then they blew snow in front of the castle, the whole thing was snow."
