Napster Founder Has Come Up With The Best Idea For Watching New Movie Releases At Home

You wouldn’t even have to change out of your jammiess… Napster co-founder Sean Parker is reportedly attempting to set up a new business which will see movie-goers pay a monthly charge to watch new releases from the comfort of their home. According to Variety, Parker wants to charge $50 to stream the latest release during their theatre release, meaning people can view the latest blockbuster in HD quality from the comfort of their home. Rather than a dodgy streaming from a site that could destroy your computer, the service would see a legal contract between the homeowner and the latest release. The American billionaire will then offer $20 from the sale to movie theatres, while offering free movie tickets as part of a rewards scheme to protect the audience attendance figures. Rumoured to be called the Screening Room, the company would take a 10 percent fee for the transaction – with the remaining money from the charge going to the film studios for the rights to screen the film. For those who opt into the Netflix-style service, it could mean that the costly trip to the cinema is reduced to your subscription fee and a trip to the supermarket. Parker is reportedly in talks with US cinema chain AMC following interest from Universal and Sony.
