We hope this happens. True Detective has had two really successful seasons. The first starred Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, and the second had Colin Farrell and Rachel McAdams.
When it first came to our screens it was refreshing to see such huge Hollywood actors taking part in television shows, much like Kevin Spacey in House of Cards. When it came back for a second season both actors were noticeably missing and although equally as big actors took their place, it just wasn't the same.
It didn't help that the second season was very slow to begin with and didn't have quite as good a story line as the first season.
But good news for fans of the show who might not have been interested in watching a third season, Matthew has said he'd be interested in coming back. This could potentially fix the problems from season two.
No disrespect to Colin or Rachel but the show was what it was because of Matthew and Woody. They got a huge fan base interested in the show and then just disappeared.
In a recent interview with The Rich Eisen Show, he was asked about returning to the show and he said,
"Yeah, I would. I miss Rust Cohle, man. I miss watching him on Sunday nights. I miss watching True Detective on Sunday Nights. I was a happy man when we made that for six months, because I was on my own island."
"But ya I would. I've talked to Nick [the director] about it. It would have to be the right context and the right way. That thing when I read it I knew within 20 minutes, if I could play this guy Rust Cohle, I'm in."
