Garth Brooks has finally broken his silence about the rumours he'll be returning to Croke Park next year. Rumours that the country music star is set to return to Ireland and play five nights at Croke Park began earlier this month, but were yet to be confirmed by the singer. In 2014, 400,000 hearts were shattered across the country when Garth cancelled his five night stint in Dublin, Garth is supposedly looking to get permission to try and perform these shows again. Saying he would be the "luckiest guy on the planet" if he was granted permission for these shows, he went on to open up about the rumours. With reports that negotiations are being finalised for the September 2022 concerts, with three dates being proposed but possibly more added on. In a Facebook live stream, Garth was asked a question about these concerts by Irish "super fan" Mary Ryan. She said: "Hope to see you in Ireland and would love to get the chance to say hello. We hope to see you sometime next year." Replying to her comment, Garth said the Irish have "so much love and sincerity" and Ireland is "the place to play." But he did come with some bad news, telling fans watching that he still hasn't gotten the green light for the shows to go ahead. He said: "I have to look into the camera and tell you this: I have heard these rumours since 2014. I don’t know where they sit at this point. "If I do get to play and go back to Ireland and play music again, we will be the luckiest people on the planet. And I promise you; the second I know whether or not it’s going to happen or not I will let you know." His assistant then added: "If love comes in the version of an Irish flag you have a lot of it because it’s just filled." Which Garth continued: "I’ll tell Ireland if you love me one billionth as much as I love you I’m the luckiest guy on the planet. I love Ireland." While this was the first time he's spoken about the concerts, Garth is yet to reveal how many dates he will be playing, with no confirmation from Aiken Promotions, Dublin City Council, or his representatives.
